Pike’s Historical Archives

The Pike Township Historical Society is a volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the unique history of Pike Township and its people.     Maxine Stevens, the founding member of the organization, was instrumental in securing space for the archives during the construction of Pike High School.    As the executive secretary to the township’s school supertintendent, Dr. Charles Jordan, Mrs. Stevens appreciated the need for a facility devoted to the care and preservation of area artifacts and history.    Fortunately her boss and the school board agreed to construct a dedictated space for the archives within the new High School.   The archives were maintained by Barbara Copeland, a tireless volunteer who has recently been succeeded by Pike alumnae Diane Martenet.    The archives are open to the public from 9:30-1:00 p.m. on Fridays.   Private visitations can be scheduled Monday-Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the school is in session by contacting Diane at 317-299-8460.
